Paul Gauguin did not lack for confidence. “I am a great artist, and I know it,” he boasted in a letter in 1892 to his wife. A painter, sculptor and writer, Gauguin stands today as one of the giants of Post-Impressionism and a pioneer of Modernism. He was also a great storyteller, creating narratives in every medium he touched. Some of his tales were true, others near-fabrications. Even the lush Tahitian masterpieces for which he is best known reflect an exotic paradise more imaginary than real.

Today Vincent Van Gogh is supposed to be one of the greatest Dutch painters. He was not famous, popular and rich while alive. Moreover, mr. Van Gogh remained poor and virtually unknown from the cradle to the grave.

The great artist was born in 1853, Netherlands. His style is applicable to post-impressionists’ movement and all his works are characterized by unique beauty, emotion and color. When he was a child painting was a hobby, but became a profession in the adulthood.  All his works were full of sun and good mood and nowadays people don’t understand why his paintings were not sold. Perhaps, it was caused by the specific feature of the artist’s style. 

He created the unusual mixture of impressionism and expressionism. It had rarely been done before, if two arts were combined. The most popular works of the artists are following:  ‘Starry Night’, ‘Sunflowers’, ‘Bedroom in Arles’, ‘Portrait of Dr Gachet’ and ‘Sorrow’.     There once was a talented artist named Julia who lived in a small village in the countryside.     Painting is very complex aspect of creativity, which is presented by a variety of movements: the Avant-gardism, the Impressionism, the Surrealism, the Abstractionism, the Hyperrealism, the Naturalism, etc. Due to the variety of movements, artists always create their own styles, attracted the specific audience. Every person, who likes or just respects the painting as a segment of the art, has a favorite artist. My favorite painter is Salvador Dali.

    It was a great and extraordinary man - the most famous surrealist painter in the world. Salvador Dali was born in Spain, Figueres in 1904. In childhood he was very stubborn and antsy boy and was eliminated from the Academy of fine arts for disgraceful behavior in 1924, because he supposed that he knew the subject better than his teachers. 

    He has a unique and unrepeatable style and his pictures could not be confused with works of other masters. The most famous works of Dali are “The Persistence of Memory” (1931), “Galatea of the Spheres” (1952) and “The Elephants” (1948).
